November 3rd, you can join in on the Color Run in San Diego! “Are you ready for the craziest, colorful, 5k of your life?” The Color Run is a one of a kind experience that is less about speed and more about enjoying a color crazy day with your friends and family. For our events, it is all about participants of all different speeds, ages, shapes, and sizes toeing the start line. Whether you are a casual morning mall walker or an Olympic athlete, the 3 miles of the Color Run course will be the most enjoyable real estate you’ve traveled in a VERY long time.

Home & Winery Tour

San Vicente Valley Club will be hosting a Home and Winery Tour featuring two homes and two Ramona wineries on May 12.
From 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., there will be: Opportunity Baskets, Bake Sale/Collectibles, Arts & Craft Faire, and a No-Host Luncheon/Fashion Show in and outside the San Vicente Inn, 24517 San Vicente Road. Reservations for the luncheon/fashion show are recommended at front desk of San Vicente Inn. The drawing for the winners of the opportunity baskets will be at 4:30 p.m.
“Come join us for a fun day and help us to raise funds for our Ramona graduates’ scholarships and community funding,” said Claudia Weringa, the club’s publicity chair.
Tickets for the day’s tour are $10 and must be presented at each location. Tickets are available in advance from Kaaren Thiem at 760-788-4840 or at the front desk of San Vicente Inn.
Opportunity Drawing tickets are $1 each, six for $5, 12 for $10 and 30 for $20. They will be available the day of the event. The drawing for opportunity baskets will be at 4:30 p.m. Winners do not need to be present.

Ramona Open Studios Tour

The 9^th annual Ramona Open Studios Tour is coming this April. The tours will run from 10:00am-4:00pm on Saturday & Sunday, April 14^th and 15^th. On these tours, local artists open up their studios to you so you can see what they look like. You can talk to the artist, check out how they work, and if you’re interested buy some of their artwork! There will be multiple artists opening up their studios, so you are sure to be intrigued.

Fred has performed in the United States, England, Germany, the Czech Republic, Canada, Taiwan and Mexico and locally with the San Diego Symphony, the San Diego Opera, the Starlight Opera, the American Ballet Company, the Old Globe Theatre, Luciano Pavarotti, and jazz artist Dave Brubeck. He is a full-time professor of music at Grossmont College where he is the head of the guitar studies program, and is chair of the guitar program at San Diego State University with colleagues George Svoboda, Robert Wetzel and Celin Romero. Fred is listed in the prestigious “Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers-2002″ and received an “Outstanding Faculty Award” in 2001 from SDSU, the “NISOD” Excellence in Teaching award from the University of Texas at Austin in 1992 and an “Outstanding Chair” award in 1990 from Grossmont College. 3) Ask for the name of the company, and the city and state they do business in. Verify information through the Attorney General’s Consumer Protection Division in that state. It is generally a toll-free number. In addition, we recommend you consider the following:
a. Never pay “upfront” fees to anyone offering to sell your timeshare;
b. Never give your credit card number or other personal information to strangers; and,
c. Never be afraid to ask a lot questions

Hawkwatch 2012 is Here!

Hawkwatch 2012 is here! Hawkwatch is held every Saturday in January, and hosted by The Wildlife Research Institute. This is a great way to experience up close adventure with the Hawks. Located in the Ramona Grasslands 9:00am-12:00pm. No RSVP’s are required, but it is recommended to show up around 8:30. Remember to bring Binoculars if you have them, sturdy shoes (no hiking required), and layered clothing. You can observe both wintering and resident raptors, such as Golden Eagles, Wintering Ferruginous, Hawks, Red-tailed Hawks, Prairie Falcons, and Red-shouldered Hawks. There will be demonstrations and live close-up viewings.
